The Pasadena Post of The American Legion was founded on July 22, 1919, four months after the founding  of The American Legion on March 15, 1919.  The American Legion was then chartered by Congress

on September 16, 1919.

The Legion Family at American Legion Post 13 in Pasadena, California is dedicated to serving the Nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, their families and supporting the communities they live in.

The cornerstone of our foundation was built upon the World War I veterans that lived in the Pasadena area in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Post members that served in World War I and war time veterans of all the great wars and the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as their families share a strong commitment to be patriotic citizens of action, serving communities in the Pasadena area and throughout Los Angeles County and welcoming new members into our family.

We do this by creating and supporting Legion Family programs such as the Sons of The American Legion, Boys/Girls State, American Legion Baseball and High School Oratorical competition. We also support unique programs that educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.

The Legion Building is very unique and beautiful. We are located on the border of Old Town Pasadena. One block from City Hall on Marengo Ave. between Holly Street and Walnut Avenue. The Holly Street Apartments, the beautiful landscaping and office suites provide a vibrant and quaint atmosphere to our property.

Inside is a grand hall with many military Legion artifacts displayed under a beautiful high beamed ceiling.

Our “Top Shelf” bar and coffee lounge is one of the finest and best looking in Pasadena. Our granite countertop bar with electrical outlets, tables for four, Wi-Fi, great cocktails and wonderful coffee and espresso beverages is very inviting to our members and their guests.

We are also proud of our National Commanders Lounge. Our lounge was created in honor of the three Past National Commanders that are members of our Sons of The American Legion squadron right here in Pasadena. Our lounge is a great place to relax and enjoy your coffee in the morning or late evening while reading your favorite magazine or book. Or enjoy your cocktail and listen to someone playing our Grand Piano before you dine on a fabulous dinner prepared by our chefs.

Best of all, our post home is a place where you and your family are welcome. Many of our programs are created for children and teens. Currently, plans are being developed to create an entertainment and computer center for the younger member and or child. Wouldn’t be great for Mom and/or Dad to come to the post and relax, while their child is watching a video or learning a new program on a MAC or PC?
